Powder hopper changing colors

Sep 29th, 2016
Occasionally we have customers who experience an extreme darkening of the powder hopper.  This is due to a reaction caused by various powders that the customer may have left in the powder hopper.  We are periodically experimenting with different plastics to reduce the inevitable discoloration from leaving powder in the hopper. When we find an improvement, we adopt it. Here are some items of note:
  • Double based powders in particular discolor plastics faster.
  • If you leave powder in the new hoppers long enough, they will eventually discolor.
  • If you can't see through them, contact us for a replacement hopper tube.
  • The early ones were glued in place using Loctite Black Max. You can again glue it in place, or you can drill holes in the metal base (using the holes in the new hopper as a guide), and use self-tapping sheet-metal screws to secure the hopper in place.
