Starline's .45-70 brass cases have been tested at elevated pressures suitable for heavy magnum hunting loads when used in appropriate firearms. When loading with black powder, annealing the case mouth may be necessary to ensure the case properly seals the chamber due to the lower pressures generated by these loads. 

Starline brass is manufactured to be exceptionally strong to withstand the high pressures associated with smokeless hunting loads. Because the only way to increase the hardness of brass is through work hardening, our only option is to leave the cases in a stiffer condition, allowing customers to anneal them as needed for their specific applications.
