Probably the least enjoyable aspect of reloading ammunition is case preparation. Fired cases need to be cleaned of any dirt, grit, spider webs, before inspection and loading. Clean brass won’t scratch your dies, and more importantly scratch the chamber of your firearm.

We understand it can be difficult to know what to buy if you are new to Dillon Precision equipment or reloading in general so we have put together these kits to alleviate that difficulty. Below you will find kits that we have put together that will supply you with the necessary products to properly prepare your brass to be reloaded. Reloading bottleneck cases requires an additional preparation step not mandatory for handgun cases - trimming. When a bottleneck case is fired, brass material flows towards the case mouth. When this fired case is resized, this brass extrudes, growing minutely longer after each firing/resizing cycle. After two to four firings, the case can grow too long. If untrimmed, the reloaded cartridge may not chamber, if you are fortunate. A worse case is that if this overlength cartridge is chambered with enough force, the front of the chamber forces the case to dig down into the bullet, increasing pressures to an unsafe level.

The 550 Rifle Brass Prep Kit comes with what you need to prepare your bottleneck rifle brass for loading. Included is our RT1500 Trimmer, a spare toolhead, decap die, size and trim die, and a toolhead stand to hold it all neatly on your bench. By sizing, trimming and decapping as a separate process, you will find that the loading process is much easier and smoother.

*If you have a Dillon rifle size die, you can use your decap assembly from your size die if you wish to expand the case neck during this process by simply swapping it into the universal decap die that is included here.*

The 750/650 Rifle Brass Prep Kit comes with what you need to prepare your bottleneck rifle brass for loading. Dillon Precision offers solutions to both aspects of case preparation. A vibratory case cleaner will scrub your cases using dry media, so that in one to two hours, your cases are clean and ready for inspection and loading. In comparison, wet cleaning your brass requires that you first deprime the cases, tumble for about an hour with a detergent mixture and steel pins, drain the liquid and separate the pins from the cases, (ensuring no pins are caught inside the case to later be launched down your barrel) then putting your cases in an electric dryer for several hours to dry them inside and out. Our vibratory cleaners are large enough to clean as many cases as you probably want to load in a session. We make a separator that efficiently separates the clean cases from the media, while catching the media for reuse without making a mess, and much faster than using any kitchen tools. We offer two different types of cleaning media. Ground walnut shell, which is used to clean heavily stained or tarnished cases, and ground corncob, which is meant for general cleaning and polishing. Add a dollop of our liquid polish to assist in a brighter polish, and inhibit tarnish from developing on cleaned cases.

Our Standard cleaning kit will accomodate 500 pieces of large pistol brass or 200 pieces of large rifle brass at a time. This is more than adequate for those with limited space or "lower" case cleaning needs. The kit includes everything you need to properly dry tumble your brass!

The Large cleaning kit will allow you to clean up to 1,300 large pistol cases per hour or 550 large rifle cases per hour with the CV-2001's massive 12-1/2 quart bowl. The CM2000 media seperator removes media from your brass in even greater capacities and will keep up with the CV-2001. If you store your brass in 5 gallon buckets, this is the kit for you!
