Why only a year warrantee

I own a couple 550B Presses and I am looking at upgrading down the road. I really like the idea of automated case feeder. As I read I find (if I am understanding it all correctly) that the 1050 is the only one that can automatically feed Rifle cases, But then I read it only has a 1 year guarantee. Dillon has the no BS guarantee forever on everything else. Why?

Also I have quite a few die sets for my 550B's can they be used on the 1050?

Thank You for your reply's
Delbert McCord

The Super 1050 is primarily used by commercial reloaders. They will wear out parts due to the greater volume of ammunition they produce. Nothing lasts forever, not even Dillon reloaders, and we feel it is not unreasonable to have such users pay for replacement parts.

As for the dies, the Super 1050 uses 7/8-14 thread dies, just like the RL550B and XL650.

Ok I guess that makes some sense. I really like the ability to feed the Rifle brass in and trim them so easily. I saw a YouTube video on it. I purchased on of your trimmers that mount to the press and am waiting for it to arrive.

I am loading anywhere from 500 to 200 rounds a month, depends on the weather, its a little cold here in Michigan to be outside shooting right now. How much expense could a person expect per year at that rate?

The only problems I have had here I had to replace things were my fault, I did not wish someone to pay for my mistakes so I just purchased the parts I needed (they were not very expensive). I am very glad to read that all the Dies I have are usable on both.

I am not ready to jump on the upgrade today, but I may be building one to my room I Hand Load in and if I do I would have room for both at once. I would keep the 550 for my pistol loading and leave the 1050 set up for the 223. My son in law to be and I shoot a lot of 223.

Thank You for your time.

You can equip the XL650 with an optional case feeder. You can also add a bullet feeder to it to make reloading even faster.

RE: Why only a year warrantee

After wasting money on a couple other self indexing progressive loaders,
losing my temper and beating a Lee Load Master off the bench with a hammer after a YEAR trying to get it to run for more than 50 rounds,
My wife got me a xl650 which ran out of the box...
with a little tuning, runs pretty well flawlessly for 3 years in all 3 of my primary calibers.

Last christmas (2015) I got a 'Super' 1050 (best wife ever!) and had to build a new bench (grinning the whole time),
Worked out of the box again, but took significantly more tuning to produce anything but blasting ammo.

Now it cranks out match grade ammo all day long as long as I don't use common Winchester primers. For some reason, it just doesn't like Win SR primers...
