sl900 different hulls

I was wondering if someone could comment on how the sl900 handles different hulls.     Are you able to load sts/fed/win hulls at the same time or do you have to make adjustments for each hull?

It also appears that Win AA HS hulls are a bit different and cannot be loaded in the same batch as other hulls.

Any comments from experienced users would be welcome, on this topic.

RE: sl900 different hulls

STS hulls are typically irregularly longer than other brands. If you plan to load mixed hulls, use STS hulls to set your start and finish crimp, and expect some shells to have a tiny opening at the center.

Winchester AA hulls are no longer a one-piece constructed hull. They require their own wad, one that does not have a tapered base. If you have both old and new AA hulls, they do need to be segregated, and loaded with appropriate wads.

Federals load fine at Winchester settings.

RE: sl900 different hulls

I load Fed., STS, and Remington gun clubs without doing any adjusting between loads. And yes you are right the Winchester HS require differant adjustments or you will crush some of the cases. (If it is adjusted for Fed.or Rem. cases)

The loader came adjusted for HS cases and it a great job right from the start.

But, I seem to get better looking loads when I use the Remington cases, so I have stuck with them for the most part.

I have four differant 12ga. loaders and SL900 is the one I like best!
