Scorched cases

New to reloading with my square deal B. I am loading 9mm with min 4.0 gr of Titegroup and OAL of 1.135 so I do not consider anything over charged. Situation is I notice that the spent brass is very "scorched" looking. Everything shoots fine through my Baretta FS or Springfield Commander 1911. Primers do not show what I would think a hot load would look like. I am being over sensitive? Thoughts?

RE: Scorched cases

Some searching makes it appear that this is common with this powder. It will polish right off.

RE: Scorched cases

I believe it's quite normal. My 9mm brass also has that "scorched" look after firing, but it all comes out in the wash and looks like new afterward.

RE: Scorched cases

The reason for this is the pressures from the load are not high enough to expand the case mouth to the chamber sufficiently, so sooty gasses go back around the outside of the case to some extent. Just messy is all, and a normal tumble cleaning removes it.
