RF100 flipping primers

I have been having problems with flipped primers.  I'm set up for small pistol primers, and have the rheostat from the factory.  I have the rheostat turned up all the way and most times need to restart the RF100 three times to load 100 primers.  I average 5 flipped primers per 100.  They seem to jam up at the deflector at the end of the ramp, one will get on it's side and wedge.  If it runs long enough it will usually clear out, it seems like clearance issues that allows the primer to get on it's side.  Any ideas?

RE: RF100 flipping primers

I'm having the same problem with my RF-100 flipping primers upside down or on their sides which is a real pain in the butt to clear out.  I'm averaging 12 cases per 100 that end up with upside down primers or crushed primers that are on their sides.  That is certainly not a time saver in any sense of the words and it's an expensive paper weight at this point.  I do not have the reostat on mine.  It is currently setup for large primers and I've adjusted everything the user manual says to adjust.  I also need to get the small plastic piece for the small primers, already have the small primer tube for the machine and used to have the small plastic primer piece but can't find it.

Can you help me???

John

RE: RF100 flipping primers

This thing is garbage; it is nothing but a problem. It loads my primers flipped and even sideways. In fact a sideways loaded primer jammed the tube to the point I cannot get it out and have to order another 50.00 part just to make it a semi-workable piece of equipment.

RE: RF100 flipping primers

I have a new RF100 factory set for small primers. It has never loaded a full box of primers successfully. I have learned that it works best at the lowest rheostat setting. At the highest setting there are always upside and sideways primers loaded into the tube. At the lowest setting the sideways primers don’t occur as often. However, I still get at least two upside down every time. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

This is my third answer on this product and am not happy with the same problems, it needs more work on fixing the upside down sideways primers and yes it is set up as Dillon suggest, with the amount of complaints Dillon should a bit harder to fix these defects.????

Brand new out of the box today and it doesn't work. It feeds upside down primers and I have even seen good ones flip upside down at the top of the filler tube. With all the complaints I see here, I think the thing to do is return it and get a full refund. I am not going to eat $340 for something that doesn't work.

After about two years of fussing with my RF100, I finally got it working halfway decent. Your results could vary but I found mine likes CCI primers and nothing else.

RE: RF100 flipping primers

I am having trouble with flipped primers, stuck primers right at the blue plastic insert. I can only use Federal primers for the way my revolvers are set up, so changing to a different manufacturer is not an option. I have tried all of the variations suggested but still end up with at least 2 out of 100 primers flipped. Is it possible to return the unit to Dillon, get them to solve the problem , set it up and return it to me in good working condition?

RE: RF100 flipping primers

I was having trouble with flipped primers but after reading some of the comments on this forum, determined, I went back to the loading bench and started over. the result was that if I backed off the screw that held the blue plastic insert a full turn+, the unit works like a charm. Tried it 4 times with 100 Fed. primers and each time I had NO flipped primers. I'm happy!

RE: RF100 flipping primers

I also have an RF100 that flips primers, and gets jammed with primers on their sides. It is the older one with no rheostat. It seems to speed up after a minute or so, and works much worse. Can I get the rheostat?

Thanks,
Mark
