Problem with sizing/decapping die

Ok just got my XL-750 set up but still waiting on the 45acp die set. I have a RCBS 45acp carbide die set that I installed until I get the dillon set. For whatever reason the case doesn't go into the sizing/ decapping die I have to use my finger to get it to go in. Is this normal with a die set that's not dillon? Does the RCBC 3 die set not work on a progressive press?

RE: Problem with sizing/decapping die

Dillon dies have a larger radius to make it easy for the case to enter the die on a progressive machine. I've had the same issue your having with Lee dies if the case isn't fully inserted into the shell plate. When loading 9mm using mixed headstamp my Dillion dies were giving me bullet set back so I faced off about .020" from the mouth of the sizing die. The cases now go into the die .020" deeper and grip the bullets tighter and no more set back issues.

RE: Problem with sizing/decapping die

Hi guys, I’m new here and to reloading. I’ve been setting up my new 750 and as above couldn’t get dies for 44mag so got a new set of rcbs instead - not a good idea I think. Anyway the problem I have is similar to the op, the case is fully in the shell plate but as I bring the case up slowly, it hits the outside edge of the resizing die, but does go in, the misalignment is about 1mm (40 thou) the case goes in and comes out without too much pressure. The primer is removed but the resulting primer pocket is visibly out of round. Looking at the case it does look slightly bent but goes into a gauge ok. Am I worrying about nothing? I would have thought the alignment should be spot on.
To me it seems the tool head needs to move to the right slightly because when I look into station 4 with no die there and the shell plate at the top, there is a similar misalignment there too. However the power die and flaring seem ok for alignment.

I think I’ve followed all the setup to the second station correctly, but Is there something I’ve missed?
Thanks in advance
