Primers are suddenly turning in half the cases

I received my new 750 a week ago and had some initial setup problems from ignorance. As I worked those out I loaded 1,000 9mm with zero turned primer in case problems.

Suddenly, I now have half my loads with primers going in sideways.

I checked the post that the primer sits on and it seems unchanged. I tightened the spring retention on the case at that station and was advised to not have it tight. I changed that and it still is a problem. I had tightened the shell plate and I'm going to look into that.

The indexing seems to be slightly off center to the under rotated side when indexed. I don't know if there is any way to adjust it, but it does not appear to be possible.

I'm stumped.

No military brass, just first reload commercial brass that I shot the factory ammo.

All help appreciated.

RE: Primers are suddenly turning in half the cases

I did further testing and it seems to function correctly if I slowly pull the handle rather than move it at a normal speed.

Loading at 1/4 pace won't be a solution for me.

Help please?

RE: Primers are suddenly turning in half the cases

For starters I would inspect the the plastic tip of your primer magazine tube. Red tip for small primers and Blue tip for large. I destroyed my first tip by over tightening the knurled primer tube cap. Too much pressure and the plastic tip will deform or break.

And yes, there is a way to adjust your index travel. 10.1 of the instructions manual on page 41 talks about moving the index block by loosening the 2 hex screws under station 4 and sliding the block in either direction to either advance or retard index travel. The block rests on a grooved platform.
Good luck.

RE: Primers are suddenly turning in half the cases

Problem solved. The shell plate indexing was slightly off. I could see the primer in correct position until the shell plate lowered and it changed position because it was hitting the left side of the primer.

Thanks to the tech support.
