Powder Drop Leaking

Loading 30-06 with 52 grains of extruded powder. Using the large powder die on two different powder drops causes a couple grains of powder to fall on the bars return going more than 40gr.
I have one magnum powder drop, however the drop fluctuates between 33-53gr unless the drop is set at 58gr or higher.

I have torn each apart, cleaned and reassembled to no resolution. Any other options?

RE: Powder Drop Leaking

two grains in weight of powder, or a couple of granules? Big difference between the two. If two grains in weight, then the height of the powder die is not set correctly. If a few granules, this is merely static electricity. Cut a 1/2" wide strip from a dryer sheet, run it down inside the hopper to the metal base, fold the excess over the top and tape it in place.

RE: Powder Drop Leaking

I found that running a spring from where the curved part of the powder rod goes through the two levers on the hopper and secured it to the desk. This pulls the levers down at the same time as the shell plate lowers. No more powder raining all over the place and the loads are now more consistent. The spring only needs to have light tension until the shell place is half way down. I bought a cheap spring at the hardware store. I hope this helps.
