Polishing powder funnel

I have a 550 that drops powder fairly uniformly but I have read some people get even more consistency by polishing the aluminum base of the powder funnel. However when I remove the two screws that hold the plastic column onto the base, the plastic column is still very tight. Is there some trick to removing it? I don't want to break it and it seems like it might be glued or something.

RE: Polishing powder funnel

The plastic hopper tubes are a very snug fit into the powder measure base.
Unless you load a lot of long-grained extruded powder, you will not find any measureable advantage out of polishing the inside of the base.
