New-in-box 1984 450

I bought a RL450 in 1984 and just opened the box. All the dies I have are RCBS including a primer pocket resized for military brass. I'm guessing this stuff won't work together. Can the 450 be upgraded to a 550? What should I do to get back in operation?

And also, can I update the 450 to a 550? Is that a worthwhile upgrade?

The dies will work just fine on the press. As far as upgrading the 450 to the 550b, I would do it. I am not sure what all is involved but I am sure the upgrades are well worth the expense.

Getting started, if you have a friend that knows would be best to help guide you in the right direction. If not, watch a bunch of you tube videos and read a bunch of reloading manuals and check out the videos here on Dillon s site.

Page 16 of the Blue Press Catalog has a list of all the upgrades available for your 450. the cost of all of them comes to $355.75. You might not want all of them, but keep in mind that a bare RL550B costs $394.00.
