RE: grease and oil

A brand new 650 shouldn't require lubrication for at least 6 months, longer if not stored in a high heat location. Use 30 wt motor on the shaft of the machine, and grease on all other moving parts. Grease the pivot pins, case feed slide where it slides on the platform rails, axle pin for the primer disc, ring indexer and indexing cam, underside of the head of the shellplate bolt.

The main. is in the book. I believe it is grease only by grease gun after 1000 rds loaded. There are so many small parts that buying the spare parts kit and main. kit combo is not a bad idea. The also say not to use wd 40.

It probably helps to keep the machine covered?

Will any type of grease do? Does Dillon sell special grease?

We use synthetic wheel bearing grease, but any automotive or gun grease is fine.

Dillon has a video on the website explaining everything you need to lube. I just rebuilt my 650 and it makes a world of difference.

I sent Dillon a message to update the manuals (PDF's) to include maintenance, lubrication, and problem solving. If more people contact them maybe they'll do it.

Here, here. I also noticed the maintenance and parts kit is perpetually out of stock and all I can see in it a tooth brush, grease in a syringe, pipe cleaners (where do you use those?) and a can of air. Didn't see any motor oil. On a thread on the 550 maintenance the admin mentions a brand of red grease. There is dark green to black grease weeping out of the hole in my ram linkage. The maintenance video in the video section is very good. My manual says pull maintenance and lube after 3000 rnds. I'm logging my rounds on my new 650 and am half way there.

if it's plastic sliding along metal, grease it. The manual is pretty explicit in its illustrations as to where to use lube.....as Dillon said above, use oil on the main shaft....the rest of the mating surfaces that move along each other take grease. The grease that comes in the syringe isn't anything special, it's a synthetic wheel bearing grease....any automotive grease should work just fine....don't overapply it, though. A little bit will go a long way.
