Full length size without deprime rod in die

Hi,
I'm setting up a .308 case prep toolhead for my XL650:
Station 1 - RCBS small base sizing/deprime
Station 2 - Dillon Carbide full length size - deprime removed
Station 4 - Dillon Sizing/Trim die with RT1500 trimmer

I need the small base die in station 1 to handle machine gun brass.

Can I full length size in station 2 with the deprime rod removed?
Or will this screw up the full length sizing?
Thanks much,
Jim

Skigrinder,
doesn't your small base die peform the full length resize?
Sounds to me like you are trying to perform the same function twice.

The RCBS small base die only sizes the lower portion of the case (i.e. near the case head).

RE: Full length size without deprime rod in die

Actually, I believe the small base die will full length size but I had to back this die out a bit in order to make it run smoothly on these cases (machine-gun fired).
Then they go to to the Dillon Carbide FL die for final sizing.
I answered my own original question by cutting the end off the decapping rod - far enough up so it doesn't hit the bottom of the case. This preserves any neck sizing functions done by the rod.
After FL sizing in Station 2, the cases look good in the case gage.
Dilema solved.
