9mm bullet lenght

New to the club 650. Have dies set and consistently get a length of 1.160. If I take a single case and put it in position 1 and run it thru by itself it will .010 to .012 shorter. Now I realise that you wouldn't ordinarily load 1 at a time I'm just wondering why it would be different ? I am running the handle the full stroke in both positions

RE: 9mm bullet lenght

When loading a single round at a time you do not have the tension on the head from a case in the sizing die and powder feed. This causes the tool head to raise up a hair and will give you the difference in length. Dillon always suggests that when you are making your die adjustments that you have a case in each station. That way you have consistent tension on the head for each round loaded.
