550c Priming Issues (flipping/double feed)

Hello,

I loaded up 200 rounds of 223 last night and had an issue with federal match ar small rifle primers flipping in the tube and wanting to double feed:

It happened consistently every 15 to 20 rounds. I've loaded this type of primer for about 500 rounds and never had a problem. So I'm not sure what's new. It would also insert some of the primers in the primer slide side ways, causing it to destroy about 4 to to pieces of brass I just trimmed and swaged.

I forgot to take a pic of the primer side when its successfully loading a primer but it looks like the "cup" that catches the fresh primer was hanging too low. Creating a gap allowing the next primer to be about 2/3 exposed. I noticed the primer slide started getting sticky, so I'm going to clean in. But that still doesn't solve the the issue in the pic, the want for them to double feed, as well as them being inserted into the cup sideways.

Any help?

A few possibilities come to mind. Firstly, check the plastic end on the primer magazine tube to be sure it is seated into its slot (and is in good shape).
Secondly, measure from the bottom of the primer slide to the top of the primer cup to make sure it is set at the correct 1.215 - 1.220.
Thirdly, check the travel of the nylon Primer Feed Stop Pin to make sure it is not sticking...but if it was sticking, you should notice that the Primer Feed Stop Pin Spring is not moving back and forth as the pin cycles.

Addendum, on my Dillon 550b, the Slide Pickup Adjustment Screw is backed out to the point where it serves no purpose (my primers feed perfectly with it that way). That may be due to the tolerances in my particular machine...yours may require adjustment.

Thank you dah. I took the slide out and measured it last week. It was at 1.216. While it was apart I realized everything was dirtier than I could see when it was all together.

I cleaned all of the nooks and crannies very well after lubing and re assembling. i loaded 125 223 rounds last night with the same primers I was having an issue with and didnt have a single problem.

Thanks again. I will keep your suggestions in mind for future troubleshooting.
