454 Casull reloading

I'm going to be starting to load .454 Casull on my 550B in the next week or so,waiting for a new set of dies. I ordered another set of .45 Colt dies to use for the .454,that way I won't have to adjust dies when going from .45 Colt to .454 Casull, just swap tool heads. Anyone have experience with using the Dillon .45 Colt dies for loading .454? I will be using IMR-4227 powder,Hornady Mag-XTP HP (#45235) 300 gr and CCI Magnum small rifle primers. These loads will going through my Taurus Raging Bull and a RossI M92 lever gun that I just purchased. (Should be here next week. Coming from Texas) I tend to load on the lighter side. Thanks

RE: 454 Casull reloading

Hello!
Noticed this was last year. Wondered if you had any success? I am starting down the exact same path as you did. Any tips? Suggestions?

Thanks,
Perry

RE: 454 Casull reloading

No problem using Dillon 45 Colt dies for 454 Casull. Heavy loads require a very heavy crimp, to prevent the bullet from working forward in the cylinder under recoil. That is the only area of loading 454 that requires special attention.
