.380 crimp problem

Hi guys. I'm reloading .380 on my new 550C press and I can't found a correct crimp. The crimp-die close the bell but I can rotate the bullet with my fingers

RE: .380 crimp problem

Some things to check for:
Make sure you are using the correct diameter bullet .355-.356
You should be using a taper crimp die as opposed to a roll crimp
Check that you have the proper powder die so that you're not over expanding the neck
Are you using dies for the .380 and not .38/357?

If all of the above are correct then use dial calipers and a factory round and measure the crimp diameter and compare that to your reload
Hope that helps

RE: .380 crimp problem

Remove the cartridge from the shellplate after you seat the bullet, but before you crimp. Can you rotate the bullet in the case? If not, but you can spin the bullet after crimping, then you are overcrimping. As a guide, put a sized, unflared, empty case in the last station. Pull the handle down. Screw the crimp die down until it stops on the case, then screw it down an additional 1/2 turn. This will get you really close.
