233 decaping pins Keep Bending or breaking

HELP>>>>>>>

I know multiple Dillion 1050 owners have been having problems with 223/556 de-capping pins, with bending or breakage.  What is the solution?

1) I have called Dillion and spoke with a person who all they wanted to do was sale me more pins, Which I was unpleased with.

2) using all Commerical non military, or NATO Brass, Hand sorted. No Beardan primers.

3). Decapping rod not bent.

4) I purchased 4 more de-capping pins. But shipping is CRAZY HIGH. $9.99.

Thanks for all your input.

RE: 233 decaping pins Keep Bending or breaking

I am a 550B owner and I just broke both my pins last night. I ordered 6 more from Dillon but also went on Amazon and purchased a Lee Universal decapping tool and some after market pins for the Lee that are advertised to being harder then anything that the manufactures include with their Dies.

I really like Dillon but their shipping is not only a little high but so ssllooww sometimes. I will have the Lee decapping tool in 2 days with my Amazon prime and will re-size them in my Dillon die after I remove the primers. Its two steps for me now but only thing I can do except wait 2 weeks for the new pins to arrive and I do not do waiting very well.

I must say in my case the problem is I am working on some range brass and I do have some millitary mixed in there. I will see if the after market pins are better for the Lee and hopefully Dillon will come out with some harder pins that are a little more expensive but will take the abuse.

There is a batch of commercial 223 brass headstamped "PERFECTA", which has severely off-center flash holes.  Additionally, we have run into other foreign cases with very tiny flash holes, too small for any brand of decapping pin, marked bot "PPY" and "PPU".

In efforts to save money, a few ammunition manufacturers are using cases that while boxer primed, are still not reloadable.

Bingo! I have a Perfecta case in my hand. Thank you for replying because I was at a loss to figure it out. I have loaded a lot of Hand Gun Rounds but this 2000 rounds of 223 has been a education.

The one I have in my hand has been de primed, trimmed, and wet tumbled. The whole is just a little off center. Is there a way to over come this or is the best thing to do is throw these away. I am using mixed head stamps from once fired brass purchased used.

Unfortunately, scrapping them is the best solution. You could hand-deprime them using a punch and hammer, but unless you plan to leave the brass on the ground, you incur more labor than most users want.
