223 Brass falls out of case feeder

Just installed the case feeder on a 550B. I am using the white 223 cal conversion #13575, with station 1 locator plate #3 pn14227 (for 38SC) . Loading .223. On starting up, the brass will fall thru the tube, and then start dropping out of the white conversion bushing. If I raise the ram a little when starting up, it keeps it from spilling out, for a while. But it starts doing it again randomly, as cases start dropping on top of each other. Seems like the jolt of a falling case causes the one on deck to tumble, even thou the feeder 'ram' is in proper position. ??
Any ideas? I hope this was understandable. :)

RE: 223 Brass falls out of case feeder

I don't load 223 on my 550 w/case feeder, but I have had the same issue you describe loading 45 colt, 44 mag, and 357 mag and I what found that stopped the cases falling over for me was to grease the bottom of the station #1 locator plate. It cushioned/stopped the bounce of the cases as they dropped down from the feeder. Maybe this will help you.

Thanks for that tip. I'll give it a try when I get another batch of brass to process.
