resizing on SDB
I set up my used but reconditioned SDB in 9mm last night and loaded 25 test round none of which would fit my case gauge. The brass appears to not be resized last 1/16" above the rim. I had this problem with 45acps and lowered the sizing die on a single stage....it appears on the SDB that the deprime/sizer is fully in the tool head. What do I check? It sounds like the blue plastic friction plate is worn and in need of replacement. There is an easy way to test this. Put a fired piece of brass into station one, and pull the handle down. The bottom of the size die should fully contact the top of the shellplate. If it does not, then the friction plate requires replacement.
Ok, I happened to have what appeared to be a brand new friciton plate....I replaced the old plate and I still lack a fraction maybe 1/16 for the size die to touch the top of the shell plate. Everything is tightened, the new friction plate is drawn up completely on the tool head with no gaps.
Any suggestions?
Any more sizing suggestions? I installed a new friction plate and still lack a 1/16 for the die to touch the shell plate. The rounds will chamber in my nine mm but I load for a friend also.
Double check and be sure that the ejector wire is not between the bottom of the die and the shellplate. The ejector wire should go behind the shellplate bolt and not across it. If the ejector wire goes across the shellplate bolt, then it gets sandwiched between the bottom of the size die and the top of the shellplate, preventing the die from bottoming out against the top of the shellplate. Otherwise, phone or e-mail for a known new friction plate from us under warranty.
