I'm looking at getting an XL650, but I had some questions on what I would need for caliber conversion.
I want to get the reloader set up for 9mm initially with the small pistol case feeder. I also want to be able to reload .223 and 7.62x39.
First question: Will I need the caliber conversion kit, .223 dies, and the small rifle casefeed plate to convert the reloader to .223? Is this all I will need for the conversion?
Second question: For the 7.62x39, will the small rifle casefeed plate work for the case feeder, or will this require the large rifle casefeed plate? And are the caliber conversion kit, the dies, and the casefeed plate all that I need for this caliber conversion?
Thanks.

For .223, you might want to add a quick change, or at least another toolhead and powder die so you can leave the dies set up.
For 7.62x39, use the large pistol case feed plate with two spacer washers. Again, if you want to leave the dies pre-set and adjusted, you will want additional toolheads and powder dies.

You can buy 7.62x39 cheaper than you can reload it. Even if you have good brass (not likely if it was shot from an AK) the components cost more than loaded ammo. None of the case feed plates give very good results for 7.62x39 no matter what you do to them. If your time is worth anything look for a sale and forget loading it. Been there done that smarter now.
