this is by far the best sight for any level of reloader- they have the best reloaders and the personel to handle any questions. i have only sold them for 8 years < i've sold rcbs, hornady and lee and there is no compareison as to what one is best, it's the big blue line > but i do know that to get the best once fired brass and reloaders available go to edsbrassandreloaders.com and he'll fix you right up.

We own a SL900 12 gauge reloader.  This is an excellent loader and works flawless.  I love the idea of not handling each hull.  The only problem I seem to encounter is with the starter crimp.  It seems excessively sharp and cuts the top of my hulls causing me to discard them after 2 or 3 loadings.  I am using Remington STS once fired hulls and with the cost of 5 to 8 cents per hull, it can get a bit pricey.  On my previous loader, the RCBS Grand, I would get at least 8 to 10 reloads.  I called Tech support and they are sending me a new starter crimp to see if that will solve the problem.  Maybe research and development should take a lesson from RCBS on their crimp.  Has anyone else encounterd this same problem?

We haven't had any reports of the start crimp die cutting into the hull. Sounds like a bad start crimp insert. We typically get 8-10 reloads out of STS hulls, depending on what we shoot them through. Please let us know how the replacement start crimp performs.

We received the new starter crimp and have it installed. It seems to do a bit better than the old one, but I guess time will tell. We'll let you know after a few more loads.

Having owned and used an RL-550 for over 20 years now and being a big fan of Mike Dillon and his no-nonsense way of doing business, I was exceptionally disappointed when my SL-900's primer feed was much less than perfect.  My initial misgivings occured when I noted an extra Primer Feed Arm included with the press and then read the warnings in the Operating Manual about the danger of breaking this part.  Despite these misgivings, I tried hard to like the 900 and loaded about 400 shells through it before the Feed Arm broke.  I still don't know why it broke but it did.  Unfortunately, I had all but decided to return the press to Dillon when the part broke and that was the last straw.  My experience included having a number of primers go AWOL during the loading cycle and require me to chase them down.  For the money, it just was not as well an engineered piece of equipment as I had expected from Dillon.

I have to agree with the previous poster in that the primer feed leaves allot to be desired. A true PITA.
