Lubrication Points

Use a needle fitting on a grease gun to squirt grease into these holes.

Dillon, I have an old RL550 and would like to modify it for grease gun lubrication. What size drill[diameter] do I use for the grease holes ?

5/64" holes are what we use

I attempted to "upgrade" my RL550 by drilling grease holes. I found the material was hard to drill and a dimple was formed in the inner diameter that took a lot of time and effort to remove. You definately need a reamer sized to the pin diameter for this job. I stopped at one hole and thus don't recommend drilling grease holes to upgrade you RL550.
Anyone know what material the RL550 is made from ?

For lubing the shaft, pul the handle down, apply several large DROPS of motor oil, then cycle the handle up and down to distribute the oil.

 Use grease through the holes in the crank and link arm. The maintenance kit includes a large syringe to lube these holes, or you can use a needle fitting on an automotive grease gun , such as for lubing motorcycles, to inject lube through these holes.

i dont have a grease gun.. and if possible i'd like to be able to take the legs off for cleaning and lubrication..

is this possible? and if so, how do i go about doing it at home?

How are your link arms attached, via E-clips or nylock nuts? If clips, then the lower4 pin may be lubed without removing the upper pins. If held on by nylock nuts, then the shaft must be removed first, then the upper link arm pivot pins tapped out before the lower linkage can be disassembled.

This requires a platform alignment tool to reinstall the platform and correctly align it to the top of the shaft.
