I just got my XL650 set up which I intend to use for loading 30-06. I was a bit disappointed that the press did not come with a powder bar appropriate for this cartridge. The large bar that comes with it will throw 50gr max (at least of IMR 4350). Most of the loads for this cartridge are in the 50-60gr range. Why did it not come with a Magnum powder bar which would seem most appropriate??

It depends on the powder being used, and the bullet weight. With ball/spherical powders, or short-grained extruded powders, the standard large bar throws pretty much any 30-06 load. Usually it will throw up to about 55 grains of IMR extruded powders.
However, for heavier charges, the magnum bar must be purchased separately. The magnum bar won't adjust down far enough to acommidate charges much under 50 grains . It goes up to about 75-82 grains, depending upon the powder type.

I also get up to 55gr of IMR 4895 when reloading 06 with my 650 and large powder bar.
