COL changes
I loaded Sig 357 with 88 grain speer bullets. Setting up the dies for a col of 1.138 doing the shells as a single stage the col was fine but once I started progresive with all stations filled the COL changed to 1.144. I missed around with this for hours and cant figure how its changing. I screwed the seating die down to correct it --but the last 2 finished out at 1.131. hopefully someone can help me out here. Adjust the seating die with a fired case in station 1. This ensures the toolhead is lifted up consistantly. Then always tighten die lock rings with cases/cartridges up in the dies. This ensures the dies are centered in the threads correctly.
Thanks so much--I'll give that a try. I just got this 550 last month---my wife said the bullets and powder wont go bad--I dont have to reload every free minute I have. It is pretty awsome--I never reloaded before Thanks again
Check if the decap pin is bottoming the inside of the brass ? The rim not the pin hitting ... A lot of head scratching to find that one ...LOL
this is typical, as when loading the last two rounds you lack a fired case in station 1 to apply consistant upward pressure on the toolhead. Always adjust the size die with a fired case in station 1 to achieve consistant OAL. Be aware that OAL will vary within the dimensional tolerances of the bullets you are loading. Up to .025" variation has been measured in some common brands of projectiles.
