Santa is going to bring me a 650 press. I do have a few questions.
1. Can I use any manufactures dies?
2. Is it necessary to use the case feeder or can I manually drop the cases. I will be loading mainly rifle cartridges.

1. Yes, any standard 7/8"-14 dies will work. Dillon's own dies are particularly suited to progressive presses and have a few neat features but any good maker's dies will work. I use Dillon's own except for the 9 mm bullet seater where I use a Redding Competition die which has a micrometer seater. It is much faster and more reproducable for adjusting OAL when I change bullet type.
2. You can manually feed the cases but it will get tiresome real quick. The XL-650 eats cases so fast you will find yourself spending an inordinate amount of effort keeping the feed tube full. Rifle cases will be far worse than pistol since fewer of them fill the tube.
