has anyone been loading 45 acp with small primer pockets?? the brass is cheaper to purchase but not sure if its worth it. i have both a 650xl and 550b, though usually do my handguns on the 550.

We have loaded lots of it for testing purposes. It reloads just fine, other than requiring that you sort it out of the fired brass. Some employees use it to form 400 Corbon from.

After having found enough to reload a full box (took a couple years), I loaded a trial batch using Universal and Win small pistol primers. Then my kids and I picked up our brass and they got mixed back in. After sorting through again to pull them out I crushed 'em and put them in the recycle bin. Most came from a police range. The 1000 I bought from Dillon only had three mixed in. I beleive they were Federal and looked like new brass. Do they still make it and WHY?

The small-primed 45ACP brass is factory-loaded with lead-free primers, for use on indoor ranges. Lead-free primers are not manufactured in a large size at this time. Almost all of this ammo is sold to PDs for indoor training.

Yep- everything is the same as loading large-primed 45ACP, except that you swap out to small primer feeding is all. Use regualr small pistol primers, not magnums.

Those sp 45ap cases seem as accurate as the lp. Were I live, its way easier to find small primers so its a win win.
Dillion : Is there an pressure or speed difference for small primer brass?
