Has anyone ever loaded 44mag with Green Dot powder ? I got a good deal on the powder and Alliant website says 7.5 grains powder so I loaded a couple and they are very weak.

6.9 grains of green dot behind 240-256 Lead SWC gives me average velocity of 950fps and 515 ft/lbs of energy. Great Target round. OAL is 1.610 for me. Been loading it for 15 years as a target load.
I wouldnt call it a "weak".... maybe a "light" 44 mag load would be more discriptive.
