3 inch vs 5 inch Barrels, 45ACP Loads

Not sure what happened, when I try to view my post it is empty. I thought I would try to reply with the post to see if that works.

As a lot of other have discovered, reloading is a fun and challenging new hobby for me.  Read new to the sport.  I shoot a 3 inch Kimber DCP Ultra 1911.  I notice that all the powder companines that list test barrels lengths list the typical 1911 full size 6". My question is have any of you found any diffference in your reloading the 45 for shorter barrels?  I have tried several different factory ammos and for the most part can not tell any difference.

BTW, I am looking for the brown truck to be delivering my new 550B with all the goodies anytime now.  I have all my components, including the rare and hard to find primers, (got soaked on the price of those babies,) but am still tyrin to find the right starting powder.  If any of you hav a good suggestion of what to start with, that can be obtrained drop a reply. There are lots of suitable powders for 45 ACP.

Examples include, but are not limited to: W-231, WST, Bullseye, Red Dot, IMR 700-X, Clays, Titegroup, Solo 1000, AA-2.

 The design of the 3" 1911s is such that a hot load is typically not required to cycle the pistol. Velocities will be lower than out of a traditional 5" barrel, but if the load cycles a 5" gun, it will cycle a 3" version.
