I'm setting up my new RL550B. In setting up the powder measure, I am not getting the belling effect on the .223 brass as outlined in the setup manual. I use calipers to measure the dimensions, and incrementally changing the height of the second station, it goes between no belling at all to collapsing the neck of the brass. I have it set right now to 1/8 turn before any case deformation occurs.
The bullets seat properly, but should there be any belling on .223 brass?

Bottleneck rifle cartridges do not get case mouths flared like handgun cartridges do. Instead, you use a chamfering tool to lightly bevel the case mouth. The rifle powder funnels are female, and serve only to guide the powder into the case. Turning them down too far will crush the shoulder of the case down.
